Boston Marathon: ‘Martial Law’ Imposed on City

Should police have emptied the streets of Boston, to search for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the teenage suspect accused in the marathon bombings? Isn’t this a bit of an overreaction? After all, London dealt with IRA attacks for decades, and the stoic British never even considered shutting down the entire city.

The photos coming out of the capital of Massachusetts today are very disconcerting. The city now looks like a veritable ghost town. What’s more, you have squads of local, state and federal officers going door to door in the suburb of Watertown, where Tsarnaev is believed to be hiding. Click here to see a handful of pictures of what some are calling unofficial martial law in Boston.

In Watertown, there are now SWAT trucks, roadblocks, and helicopters all over the place. You would think you were looking at pictures of Fallujah, instead of Boston. Are they that afraid of the suspect?

What is your opinion about this issue? Have authorities gone too far, by shutting down the city, to capture the accused Boston Marathon bomber?
