After a few tough spots in the beginning of the fight, Ward settled down behind his long jab and crisp right crosses to roll to the lopsided decision with scores of 120-108, 118-110 and 118-111.
Andre Ward improved to 24-0 with 13 KOs while Arthur Abraham fell to 32-3 with 26 KOs.???
The fight was held in Los Angeles as part of the revolutionary Super Six World Boxing Classic tournament, pitting the world’s top super middleweights?, excluding Canadian-based Romanian Lucian Bute, against each other to determine the best.
In this tournament, 27-year-old Bay Area native Andre Ward has emerged as the tournament favorite, dominating Mikkel Kessler and claiming his WBA World Super Middleweight title, Allan Green and Arthur Abraham. He also faced and beat tough Sakio Bika in a fight outside the tournament.
Arthur Abraham, who was initially regarded as the tournament favorite behind Mikkel Kessler, started the tournament with a big statement, knocking out former titleholder Jermain Taylor. However, he hasn’t been able to capitalize on that win, losing three uncompetitive tournament fights to Andre Dirrel, Carl Froch and now Andre Ward. He beat Stjepan Bozic by second-round KO in a tune-up fight outside the Super Six in February.
