Brandon Marshall Traded to Miami Dolphins! Dolphins Acquire Brandon Marshall for two-2nd round picks!

Less than 24 hours after signing his restricted tender sheet, Brandon Marshall became the newest member of the Miami Dolphins. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that he really only signed the tender so to “facilitate trade talks between the Broncos and other teams.”

That other team just so happens to be the Miami Dolphins. Marshall should be able to make an immediate impact for the Dolphins, giving second-year starter Chad Henne an All-Pro caliber receiver to throw to.

The Dolphins passing game has been somewhat of a disappointment in recent years; Tedd Ginn just hasn’t been productive enough since being the ninth-overall pick in the 2007 draft, (38 catches, 454 yards and 1 TD) and the Dolphins are shopping him around. Greg Camarillo has been a solid 50 catch for 550 yards kind of guy over the last two seasons and third-year wide-out Davone Best led the team with 76 catches and 758 yards, and Brian Hartline finished with a decent rookie season adding 31 grabs for 506 yards.

Brandon Marshall is an immediate upgrade to this receiving corp. Over the last three seasons, Marshall has averaged 101 catches and over 1,000 yards. With a quarterback like Henne, who likes to throw the ball, Marshall should continue to put up big numbers.

The biggest question about Brandon Marshall has nothing to do with his talent or skills on the field sadly, but all to do with his diva-like behavior off-the-field. Marshall’s behavior has been well documented over the past couple of seasons in Denver, making it inevitable that he would be getting moved.

It got so bad last year, that head coach Josh McDaniel benched Marshall for the final game of the season when the Broncos were still fighting for a playoff spot. That pretty much drew the line in the sand and from then on Marshall’s days in Denver have been numbered.

With this season being uncapped, the Broncos put a first-round tender on Brandon Marshall, but could find no takers willing to give up a number one draft pick for his services. The Seattle Seahawks had been rumored to be the most interested in acquiring Marshall, but it looks like the Dolphin’s put a better offer on the table.

In the deal that sends Marshall to Miami, the Broncos will get the Dolphins second-round pick (44th overall), in next Friday nights draft and the Dolphins second-round pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

The AFC East has been a very busy division this off-season, especially the Jets, who Sunday night acquired Super Bowl MVP wide receiver Santonio Holmes from the Pittsburgh Steelers for a fifth-round pick this year and now the Dolphins bringing in Marshall. It looks like it is your turn Bill Belichick to make the next move.

In a division that has been dominated by the New England Patriots over the past decade, the wave of the tide may be shifting, with the Jets and Dolphins both adding significant talent this off-season.
