Breaking Dawn Part 2 is still going strong in theaters. For the third weekend in a row it emerged number one—beating out Brad Pitt’s premiere of Killing Them Softly, James Bond thriller Skyfall and Lincoln.

According to a report from the New York Daily News, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are still the reigning king and queen of the box office. Could that trend continue through Christmas?

This past weeBreaking dawn part 2kend saw box office figures top yet another $17 million in domestic sales from this last film in The Twilight Saga. It yielded another $48.4 million from box offices around the world.

What do you suppose the key is to this Twilight film’s success? Is it due to it being the very last of the vampire film series? Or is there just something about Edward Cullen and Bella Swan fighting Volturi vampires that keeps the film in the spotlight? Even Robert Pattinson said the vampire sex wasn’t all it was cracked up to be!

Some believe it’s the romance factor that helps maintain its place ahead of good quality films. Seeing Edward Cullen and Bella Swan in love on screen and knowing Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have reconciled in real life might be helping, too.

Falling second place at the box office to Breaking Dawn Part 2 is Skyfall. Lincoln is still holding fast to the number three spot. Did anyone at all go to see Brad Pitt’s new film Killing Them Softly?
