Bristol Palin To Stretch Acting Muscles, Play Teen Mom on ABC Family’s ‘Secret Life of the American Teenager’
ABC has announced that Bristol Palin, “arguably the most famous teen mother in America,” will make her acting debut playing herself on ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
The daughter of vice presidential also-ran Sarah Palin (taking time off from pursuing the money that estranged boytoy Levi Johnston has received for appearing in various outlets such as Playgirl) will appear as a friend to the show’s protagonist, Amy, at what ABC calls “a music program for teen mothers.” Secret Life focuses in part on how Amy’s family and friends deal with her own unexpected pregnancy.
“I am thrilled to be on this show and to be part of a program that educates teens and young adults about the consequences of teen pregnancy,” the 19-year-old Palin said, presumably with a straight face.
“We’re thrilled to have [Bristol] join us, and I think she will bring additional attention to the issues facing teen parents that we’ve been exploring for a couple seasons now,” chimed in the show’s executive producer Brenda Hampton, who’s known for never looking a ratings horse in the mouth.
Bristol pledged on Good Morning America (also on ABC! Synergy!) last year to use her fame to spread her message of abstinence.
