Britney Spears will have to wait a little longer before she can marry her third husband, Jason Trawick. Britney has had a long tough road and getting married is like closing the book on her past and moving forward. Unfortunately, that past is not ready to be sealed away quite yet.
Britney’s father is currently in charge of all of her affairs due to a conservatorship. If and when Britney marries, it is very likely the singer will regain control of her life or her new husband will be given the reins. While this would probably be okay in most circumstances, the legal battle the Spears family is gearing up for presents some challenges.
Jamie Spears has worked very hard to keep his daughter from testifying or being deposed against her former manager, Sam Lufti. Lufti is suing BritBrit and her family for defaming him. Back during the height of her mental breakdown, the family accused the manager of giving drugs to Britney in an attempt to control her.
The trial is expected to start on September 11 of this year. It could last for several weeks. A source explains why it is so important to keep Britney under her father’s conservatorship. If Britney marries and her father’s power ends, “lawyers repping Lutfi would absolutely go into court and argue that if Britney were able to get married, she should be able to be deposed.”
While the family waits for all the legal stuff to be put to rest, Britney is reportedly planning a “humble” wedding. A source reveals, “The wedding will most likely be a very low key affair, and could take place in Britney’s hometown in Louisiana, at her mansion in Kentwood.” Hopefully, Lufti will just fade away and let Britney Spears move on with her life.
