Broccoli and Avocado Salad

This is a salad I had tucked away in my recipe file. I've only made it twice, and I loved it. It's been at least 5 years, though, since I had this. I think it's time to try serving it to hubby. He has diabetes II and when he had his last blood tests, the results were not as good as the doc would have liked. Time to really concentrate on eating healthy, and sticking to the 1500 calories a day that the doc prescribed. Do you know whose challenge that really is???
1 pound broccoli
1 ripe avocado
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
Trim and wash the broccoli and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Steam broccoli until it is just bright green and has that crunchy-tender texture. Drain and cool.
Peel and pit the avocado. Cut into cubes.
Fold the avocado into the broccoli.
Mix olive oil, lemon juice, and mustard together.
Toss the broccoli and avocado with the dressing.
