It’s curtains for The Rosie Show. After a paltry five months on the air, Rosie O’Donnell’s newest talk show was officially axed from the schedule today thanks to poor viewership numbers. The final episode is slated to air March 30 on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN TV network.
Despite drawing a slew of colorful celebrity guests and plenty of hefty doses of O’Donnell’s should-be patented rantings against causes and people she dislikes, the show averaged only 230,000 viewers per night, a number not large enough to justify continuation. Popular guests who appeared on the show included, among others, Chelsea Lately host Chelsea Handler, Three’s Company alum turned alternative treatment guru Suzanne Somers and boybander Lance Bass.
Per her usual custom, the oft-polarizing TV personality was candid in her response to what had to be difficult news to hear, tweeting to a disappointed fan “its ok – do not cry – on we grow”.
In a statement, Winfrey thanked O’Donnell and the cast and crew of The Rosie Show for “giving it their all” to make the program a success.
