Mom, oh Mom, it’s St. Paddy’s day

Can I make believe I’m Irish

I smiled my face away

With a name like Duggan

What else could you ever be

My son, looked for something green

Picked a leaf from off a tree

He was only six and off to school he went

with a leaf stuck behind his ear

And a nickel to be spent

His boyish squeals were dear

He told all the neighbors

And the kids and teachers too

That his family roots were in County Cork

Delightfully that’s true
