Can Taylor Kitsch’s Career Be Saved by ‘Fifty Shades of Grey?’

Taylor Kitsch would have appeared to be the next big action star based on what his IMDB page looked like a few months ago—he was all set to star in Disney’s highly anticipated John Carter movie and the summer flick Battleship.

Disney was probably hoping that John Carter would be the next Star Wars, but the movie spectacularly flopped (so in a way it was the next Star Wars: think Episodes 1-3). To make matters worse, Battleship recently got sunk by The Avengers at the box office. So all the other production companies out there working on movies based on board movies might want to be worried (if Katy Perry’s Candy Land didn’t give you diabetes, just wait until the movie based on the game comes out).

Taylor Kitsch is a great-looking guy who won a cult following of fans thanks to Friday Night Lights, but he just didn’t prove to be a big box office draw. So can his movie career be saved?

Of course it’s not completely his fault that John Carter was a victim of bad marketing or that adding aliens to a movie based on a board game proved to be a bad idea, so perhaps there’s still hope for the actor. But maybe it’s time for him to quit trying to appeal to guys by starring in action flicks alongside aliens—he might have much better luck winning women over.

He could always go the rom-com route, but here’s a much better idea—Taylor should start familiarizing himself with the book Fifty Shades of Grey.

The erotic novel has a fierce fan following, much like the Twilight books and movies that the erotic novel was inspired by. Fans are already busy trying to cast BDSM-loving billionaire Christian Grey, and actors like Ian Somerhalder and Alexander Skarsgard have expressed interest in the role. Of course Robert Pattinson is also a fan favorite.

However, Taylor Kitsch looks the part just as much as any of those actors do. So maybe it’s time for him to start studying butt clamps and vagina balls so that he doesn’t blush when auditioning for Fifty Shades of Grey.

He will have one more chance to show moviegoers that he’s deserving of winning roles in big films in the upcoming Oliver Stone thriller Savages. He and Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson play pot growers who face off against the Mexican drug cartels that kidnapped their mutual girlfriend (Blake Lively). So while he’s not playing a character like Christian Grey, there does seem to be some kind of kinky sex thing going on with the girlfriend-sharing situation.

The movie hits theaters this July, so who knows? Maybe his role in the drama will revive his career and help him win the much-coveted part of Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey. So do you think that he would be a good choice for the role?
