Chicago Bulls’ Derrick Rose’s Injury Puts Team in a Tough Spot

Chicago Bulls’ Derrick Rose’s injury is a major blow for this Bulls’ team. Rose has been chronically injured all season, but when he was healthy enough to play in this year’s NBA Playoffs, his team and the fans were ready for the reigning MVP to get back to business. Then, with 1:10 left in this first playoff game, Rose went down and did not get back up.

Rose was helped to the locker room and will be heading to the hospital for an MRI of his injured knee. The results of the MRI have yet to be released.

When asked about Derrick Rose’s injury, coach Tom Thibodeau stated, “It’s part of the game. There are going to be injuries. You can get hurt any time. You’ve got to deal with it. He’s had a lot of injuries this year, it’s unfortunate. But we’ll deal with it.”

The Bulls did manage the number one seed with Rose missing over two dozen games in this shortened season. While Rose will be sorely missed if this injury is something severe like a torn ACL, the rest of the Bulls team have proven that they can compensate for the majority of his talents. This will negatively impact team moral though, because Rose is certainly the leader of this team.

The extent of Derrick Rose’s injury has yet to be assessed, but the Bulls are already feeling the pain of him being gone. They did win this game against the Philadelphia 76ers, but they know that their future in the NBA Playoffs does not look as bright without Rose at the point guard position.
