Chidi Ahanotu to surrender NFC Championship ring

Chidi Ahanotu the former St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end is being ordered to surrender his NFC Championship ring. Ahanotu won the ring as a part of the greatest show on turf St. Louis Rams led by Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk and Tory Holt in the late ’90s and early 2000s.

The reason that Chidi Ahanotu is being ordered to surrender the NFC Championship ring is because he claims that he can not afford to pay the almost $130,000 dollars in legal fees owed to his ex-wifeÂ’s attorneys. He tried to protect the ring by telling the court he gave it to his brother to settle a debt, but circuit judge Elizabeth Rice ordered him to surrender the ring or go to jail for contempt of court.

In a statement Chidi Ahanotu stated, “This court system is a farce. They want a man to hand over a once in a lifetime accomplishment to pay some attorney’s fees.” He went on to say “I could see surrendering the ring if it was going to pay something for my children or even to payoff my ex-wife.” The attorney’s fees have built up through a drawn out custody battle.
