Chris Hemsworth is becoming one of the biggest stars in Hollywood thanks to roles in movies like The Avengers and Snow White and the Huntsman, so he seems like an excellent casting choice for Star Wars 7.

At least the beefy action star best known for playing Thor is eager to land a role in the movie. According to Movie Fix, here’s what he said about Star Wars during an interview with MTV News:

“Oh man, I love those films. That’s the sort of bread and butter of my film experience as a kid. I would love to work on something like that.”

Unfortunately it’s impossible to tell which role he would be a good fit for in Star Wars 7—no details about the plot have been released. Rumor has it that the movie will feature an all-new story, which means that it won’t follow any of the popular books set in the Star Wars universe.

If the movies re-write what happens to Luke, Princess Leia, and Hans Solo in the books after the events of Return of the Jedi, it’s still possible that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford could return as their famous characters. So perhaps Hemsworth could play the son of Hans Solo and Princess Leia, or perhaps he could play a Jedi being trained by Luke.

Any role would be great for Chris, but perhaps it would be more fun to see him play a villain—he might actually enjoy turning to the dark side after playing the hero so many times. It would also be great to see him take on a role that requires him to drastically alter his appearance (think Darth Maul). At least he should have no problem with fighting in a bulky costume and wielding a weapon after playing Thor.

Of course the new Star Wars movie needs to feature a strong female role, and Jennifer Lawrence seems like the perfect fit—she’s an Oscar-caliber actress who has played a warrior (The Hunger Games) and a blue mutant (X-Men: First Class).

So do you think that Chris Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence are a good fit for the film? And would you like to see Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher reprise their beloved roles?
