Christmas 2012: Is There Mail Delivery from US Post Office on Christmas Eve Day?

With the Christmas 2012 holiday approaching fast, many individuals are hurrying to get their last minute gifts and cards sent out in time for the big day. That prompts the big question of “will there be mail delivery from the US Post Office on Christmas Eve day?”

Christmas Eve 2012 falls on this coming Monday, which in every regular week has full mail delivery from the USPS. There will be delivery on this Monday as well, which is good news for those shipping items out on Saturday. Even the Amazon.com website notes that people with their Prime service that choose 1-day or local shipping can still have gifts sent in time for the holiday. For those who want to be extra careful, there’s always the option of just sending a gift card online. That way there’s no worries over something getting lost in the mail, or taking a bit too much time for delivery.

According to one website, many post offices will be open until only 12PM Noon on Monday, with select locations open later. They also note that “only Express Mail” will be delivered on Christmas. Regular mail service picks up on December 26th, as will all of the malls and real world shops as people start returning those gifts that don’t fit properly, don’t work, or they may not have actually wanted. It happens, right?
