Chuck Norris is a genuine internet phenomenon. He is the subject of Paul Bunyan-type fictional “facts” of his exploits such as, “Chuck Norris can divide by zero.” There are roughly over 600,000 such facts floating around and one popular website dedicated to these can reach 18 million hits a month. Norris also throws his hat into commentary on political issues and elections. His latest round-house kick is his two-minute anti-Obama video.

In the video, Norris and his wife Gena Norris urge evangelical Christians to get out and vote citing that an estimated 30 million stayed home last election giving Obama the win by 10 million votes.

“If we look to history, our great country and freedom are under attack,” Norris says. “We’re at a tipping point and, quite possibly, our country as we know it may be lost forever if we don’t change the course in which our country is headed.”

The two quote from a famous Ronald Reagan speech, “A Time for Choosing,” delivered in October 1964. In urging like-minded Americans to vote, Norris warned if we don’t preserve “the last best hope of man on earth . . . we’ll sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness.” Reagan’s speech actually warned of the “last step.”

The video makes no mention of Mitt Romney. Earlier this year Norris endorsed Newt Gingrich before throwing his support to Romney after Gingrich’s drop out. “I believe that Mitt has the skills and organization to defeat Obama and stop his fundamental transformation of America,” Norris wrote in a May 2012 NewsBusters column. “We all know what four more years of increased socialistic decisions would do to our country.”

Reagan’s speech endorsing Barry Goldwater for president did not seal the win in 1964, entering us into the 1,000 years of darkness 48 years ago. This is the second Hollywood star to make headlines with their endorsement this week. His anti-Obama video would serve better presenting facts. Why would Norris need scare tactics to call for party support? Everyone knows Chuck Norris can stop a 1,000 years of darkness with a stare. Let’s hear your best Chuck Norris “fact” against Obama.
