Don’t cry too hard for Colton Dixon. Yes, he got knocked out of American Idol a couple weeks ago but his future looks bright already. He got invited to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday, April 28, 2012 and it looks like he is having the time of his life right now. He was sent an invite to be a special guest of the Christian Broadcasting Network. CBN was impressed with how Colton handled his faith on the show before he got voted off and immediately asked him to attend this exciting event.

“I think it was pretty clear from the beginning where Colton’s heart is,” CBN news director Rob Allman said. “His heart is in Christianity and his strong feeling for God. As soon as he was voted off, I sent an email saying we should try to get Colton to be our guest if he would.” They couldn’t have picked a more deserving person to represent them.

The 20-year-old singer looked like he was having a blast. His rocker tux, as he called it, was complete with a black scarf and boots to match. His hair was golden and spiked straight up. He looked just like a rocker dude should.

He might have even been a little star-struck as seen in some of the pictures he tweeted. He met Diane Sawyer, who he said loved his cologne. By the way, he wrote that he wore Angel for men that night. He also met the gorgeous Kate Hudson and the host of the event, Jimmy Kimmell. One of the mentors on American Idol, Mary J. Blige, was also at the dinner. Colton said that she was one of his favorite mentors on the show. Almost every photo taken had this guy wide-eyed and smiling. Who wouldn’t be?

What is next on the agenda for the Tennessee native? Look for some writing collaborations sometime soon. Colton had dinner with another rocker dude, Chris Daughtry, who was also shockingly eliminated way too early from American Idol. They got along famously and Chris gave his new friend some wise advice about the business. Colton also said that Jason Wade from his favorite group Lifehouse called to have a chat with him about writing together. Either one of these successful guys would definitely be an asset for Colton’s future.
