Communist Party USA Meeting in New York to Focus on US Path to Socialism and More

The Communist Party USA has kicked off a national meeting in New York this weekend, with 140 delegates from all over the country. The discussions will focus on how to “defeat the right wing” in the upcoming election and how to plan for socialism in the United States.

Communist Party, USA, in Solidarity by JeanPaulHolmesSam Webb, the party’s chair, discussed these goals in his opening remarks. He stated that for the path to socialism, “Defeating right-wing extremism is seen as simply the first stage of the fight,” as reported in People’s World (PW), the official newspaper of CPUSA, but the delegates (after defeating the right wing), “intend to go much, much further.” Webb says, “We hope to connect the struggle at the ballot box today with the struggle for socialism tomorrow.”

One person to “defeat” is U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Florida, who has recently been highly criticized for his remarks at a town hall meeting, stating that there are 78-81 communists in the Democratic Party. Referencing West’s comments, Communist Party vice-chairman Libero Della Piana said, “Is he saying that he would not support the democratic right of the people to elect communists to Congress if that was, in fact, what they wanted to do at some point in the future?” Nope, he was not saying that, he was saying that there are communists in the government posing as democrats.

Key Goal: According to the PW, “Assuming an eventual victory over the right wing, the Communists see workers and allies then being able to enter an “anti-corporate” stage of the struggle, where they expect the fight for a people’s’ agenda will bring the labor movement at odds with corporate/economic political power.” In their plot against the values of the United States, socialism is the first step, but will not yet “supplant capitalism” rather, it “brings the socialist stage closer as tens of millions become convinced in the course of the struggle that capitalism doesn’t work for them.”

Once in the Socialist “stage”, the focus will be a shift to communism. During this stage, there will be “a deepening of anti-racist consciousness and practice, the consolidation of the anti-corporate alliance, and the growth of the Communist Party and other left organizations.

Socialism is not just a good idea, according to Webb, but it is “imperative…to preserve peace and our planet, expand democracy, eliminate gross racial, gender, and other forms of inequality, and to provide a secure life for the billions living on this earth.”

The tea party is a huge concern to the communists and it must be mocked, diminished, viewed as consisting of radicals, events under-reported, etc., as it is a movement that goes completely against their principles of ultimate complete control over the government, abolishing private property, focus on the collective instead of the individual, etc.

In essence, the Communist Party USA believes in the opposite of what our founding fathers did. To get to communism, the entire system has to break down, church and school teachings need to be nationalized to support the cause, the constitution needs to be dismissed as an “old, irrelevant, dusty” document, the reverence for the founders must decrease, traditions, religious and otherwise, need to change, history needs to reflect the bad instead of the good to demonize America and turn people against her.

Leon Trotsky on America becoming Communist

Leon Trotsky wrote an article, published in the March 23, 1935 in Liberty Magazine. His piece, while relatively short, gives rich insight into how the transition to socialism and ultimately to communism would occur in the United States.

In it, he talks about Franklin D. Roosevelt and the conservatives’ unfounded fear that the president of that time was leading the nation toward socialism. He said, “In spite of the complaints of some of your arch-conservatives, Roosevelt is not preparing for a soviet transformation of the United States.”

Trotsky wrote about how “American Soviets” would handle the “problem of eugenics” better than those in Nazi Germany. He wrote “Your unregenerate capitalists will, of course, find no place for themselves in the new setup.” He suggested that the 1% (although Trotsky called them the 5-10%) would be shipped to an island somewhere. He said, “Even the intensity and devotion of religious sentiment in America will not prove an obstacle to the revolution” and speaks of the necessity of “crisis” in convincing people, “If one assumes the perspective of soviets in America, none of the psychological brakes will prove firm enough to retard the pressure of the social crisis.”

He talks of the inevitability of violence during the “revolution”, “The American temperament is energetic and violent, and it will insist on breaking a good many dishes and upsetting a good many apple carts before communism is firmly established.”

Trotsky continues to say that that 5-10% at the top are the only ones who will be strong in resistance, “Everybody below this group is already economically prepared for communism.” He says in their poverty, they “have nothing to lose”. Except their souls, perhaps. Trotsky did not speak of souls, although he did tackle the “moralism” in America, which “weakens” our “rationalism”. Trotsky said of our media, “Soviet America will have to find a new solution for the question of how the power of the press is to function in a socialist regime.”

capitalism has failed now let's try democracy by yakottaIt seems as history repeats itself. The Communists believe that a financial crisis is the time when people are the most willing to submit themselves to socialism, as they are desperate. Americans should be vigilant, if they do not want, as Michelle Obama has stated, to change American history and traditions.
