I must confessed I have a new addiction, or shall I say, I’m having a relapse. I used to read romance novels almost non-stop when I was younger, and abandoned it when I got older, settling into more mature works like books on self-improvement and spirituality. However, on a moment of weakness while trying to find some light-reading material to tackle with, I picked up a romance novel at the local library. It has a glossy red cover, titled Dark Lover by JRWard. Boy, was I in for a ride.
Dark Lover was the first of a series called Black Dagger Brother, stories about a group of warrior vampires dedicated in defending their species from extinction. (I’ll write a review for her books later) Truth be told, I was hooked, and my slide to romance novel reading has began. But in my absence from the scene, a lot of changes have occurred, the genre have expanded, and romance writers have freely crossed boundaries to thrillers, action, sci-fi and paranormal. Well, since, I’m into vampires, my first choice is definitely paranormal, and I was surprised at the variety of choices. Furthermore, more and more authors are willing to try the unconventional, and the stories are getting sexier and hotter, not that I’m one to complain. (*fans herself LOL)
Aside from Ward, whose books will always occupy a special place in my bedside table, I am currently reading Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Laurel K. Hamilton, Lora Leigh, Shiloh Walker, Alexis Morgan, Jacquelyn Frank and many more. Furthermore, I’m on the prowl for new voices of the genre, and is always on the lookout for the latest hot read.
Yes, my secret is out. I’m a self-confessed paranormal romance novel reader.
