A struggling Minnesota waitress received an astonishing $12K tip at the Fryn’ Pan where she works in Moorhead, Minn., but after she turned it over to police, they ended up deciding it was drug money, and they tried to keep it. However, Stacy Knutson filed a lawsuit to get the cash back, and cops gave it back to her.

Cops Give $12K Tip Back to Waitress After LawsuitAccording to Knutson’s attorney Craig Richie, “We argued that most money that you carry in your pocket has drug residue on it. She could’ve kept the money and nobody would’ve known. But she said, ‘No, I’m going to do the right thing.’ So she called police and now integrity has now prevailed.”

Thank goodness Stacy Knutson ended up getting this $12K tip back. This mother of five had been struggling, and she felt that this money was the answer to her prayers for help. The fact that police tried to keep it had to be distressing.

Aren’t you happy that this ended up working out well for the waitress? It seems a shame that she had to hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit to get the money, but at least she has it now. There is no doubt that $12,000 will make a large difference in her family of seven.

Have you ever left a large tip or received a large tip? Would you consider turning it over to police if it was this large? This case almost makes you want to just keep the money if it could be tied up for so long.
