Country Star Tim McGraw finds connection to George Washington on “Who Do You Think You Are?”

Tim McGraw was the latest celebrity to find his way through his genealogy through the television series “Who Do You Think You Are?”

McGraw has spoken before about the lack of relationship during his youth with his father, Tug McGraw, but their relationship later resumed. Now another family discovery was about to be uncovered.

Through the show and utilizing Ancestry.com, McGraw discovered his roots go all the way back to the earliest settlers of our country.  In particular a connection to George Washington, the 1st president of the United States was uncovered. According to IBTimes, the journey began in Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park. Tim McGraw later moved onto Wilderness Trail and parts of Scott Country, Virginia, where he learned that his ancestors date back before even the establishment of the United States

The show “Who Do You Think You Are?” is in its second season on NBC and claiming another successful season.  The basis of this program is to help individuals uncover their family roots, through a family tree, and use of Ancestry.com.

The show most recently aired with Tim McGraw tracing his roots and has many more celebrities in store.  Among the roster include Gwyneth Paltrow, Rosie O’Donnell and Kim Cattrall to search for their roots during the next few episodes.
