COURTNEY LOVE REVEALS FRANCES BEAN CUSTODY BATTLE INFO AND INTROS NEW ALBUM LIVE ON MATT PINFIELD THIS MORNING (PICTURES) (VIDEO)
Courtney Love’s next album, Nobody’s Daughter, has been more than five years in the making. Love has worked with good friend Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan and famed superproducer/songwriter Linda Perry (who, most recently, helped Pink take her career into the superorbit). Due to be released in April, Courtney has been touring Europe with the renewed Hole lineup and called into 101.9 FM in New York to chat for over an hour with Matt Pinfield live on the air. And, as usual, she had a lot to say.
What are some of the reasons that Love hasn’t been able to get an album out faster? Well, there was the little skirmish about someone stealing Kurt Cobain’s ashes from her (seirously). Then there was the revolving door of collaborators for this album–which at one point included electro-punk Moby. Maybe you had heard about the feuds with her old friends and bandmates. Or, more importantly, the ongoing money issues, including getting sued by American Express, and the custody fights with her mother-in-law over her only daughter, Frances Bean. But it seems as if all that is finally taking a backseat to Love’s musical ambitions — in fact, she’s even gotten some of her old band Hole reunited.
Well, it’s called HOLE, just like before, but the only original member of the band still there besides Courtney is bassist Melissa auf der Mauer, who adds in background vocals. Love has also recruited heavy-metal string quartet Apocalyptica and guitarist Micko Larkin. A single, SKINNY LITTLE BITCH, got rave reviews this morning and an U.S. tour is being planned, tickets going on sale for some dates this week.
Has anybody missed Courtney’s music? I have and, yet again, I’m hoping that she returns to the vibrant vital rock she used to perform. Do you think this could be a real turning point for her, musically and personally?
