Courtney Stodden Signs Reality Show Deal With Merv Griffin

You have got to be kidding. Courtney Stodden, the infamous teen bride who married a man–Doug Hutchison–34 years her senior, has signed a deal with Merv Griffin for a reality TV show. That’s got to be the last straw in desperate subject matter for reality TV.

According to RadarOnline, Courtney, along with her Green Mile actor-husband, have signed a deal with Roy Bank, who is the president of Merv Griffin Entertainment. And Courtney’s mom Krista Stodden, who also serves as her manager (of course she does!) feels this deal in her daughter’s best interests.

Hello? If Krista Stodden had her daughter’s best interests at heart, why did she sign papers allowing her to marry Doug Hutchison at the age of 16? It’s pretty clear that Courtney Stodden doesn’t come from a really stable background, but this is the icing on the cake. What on earth are these people thinking?

RadarOnline reports that “The reality show will give viewers a look into the newlywed’s unconventional lifestyle and promises to be no holds barred.”

“They are going to be very, very open about their lives,” Courtney Stodden’s mom says. “They want everybody to see their life. Nothing is off limits.”

What kind of sick people will watch this show? Wait a minute. Never mind that question. That part’s pretty obvious. Why are networks allowing this kind of crap to be on TV? Courtney Stodden is a child, for goodness sake, and now she’s not only married to a man who is 51, but her so-called marriage with him is about to be aired publicly for all the world to see. Sick, sick, sick!

So what do you think about this entire scenario? Does it sound to you like both Courtney Stodden’s parents and her new husband are about to exploit her for money? And does it seem like she’s so naïve that she can’t see the writing on the wall?

If ever there were a sad situation in the making of a TV show, this has got to be it. Sadder still–people will watch it and it will likely draw decent ratings.
