‘Criminal Minds’ Season 7 Finale ‘Hit’ and ‘Run’ Spoilers: Returning Characters, Prentiss’ Goodbye

Criminal Minds season 7 will be coming to an end on May 16 with the two-part finale, “Hit” and “Run.” The BAU will be facing a hostage situation, and it will all come to an end when the team has to say goodbye to Prentiss. However, there is going to be some good news, with one couple getting married.

CM Season 7 Episode 23 “Hit” Official Description

“When the BAU goes up against a gang of serial-killing bank robbers in Washington, D.C., the team tries to negotiate the situation unfolding inside the bank, but the stakes rise when one of their own becomes a hostage.”

Criminal Minds Season 7 Episode 24 “Run” Official Description

“As the BAU team continues to pursue the bank-robbing serial killers, the team determines that the suspects have a bigger target in the Nation’s capital, and with one of the team still a hostage, they must work quickly to diffuse an explosive situation. Also, wedding bells ring for one of the BAU, and Prentiss ponders her future.”

There are a number of returning characters in these two episodes. Jayne Atkinson is returning as Section Chief Director Erin Strauss. She’s been off dealing with her own problems, but with a case like this coming back, it’s no surprise that she’s back just in time for it. Also back in the FBI is Brian Appel as Agent Anderson, who has been recurring since the first season.

Nicholas Brendon is back as Kevin Lynch, which you expected since the couple getting married is either Will and JJ or Kevin and Garcia. Since Kevin and Garcia are on the outs when she didn’t react well to finding out she was going to propose and with Candy Clark guest starring as JJ’s mother, it is looking like JJ and Will are going to be heading down the aisle. Yes, Josh Stewart is back as William LaMontagne, Jr., and AJ Cook’s son Mekhai is back to play her character’s son, Henry.

There are also people in Hotch’s life returning. Cade Owens is back as his son, Jack, and really, there’s no way that’s a bad thing. The father-son scenes between Hotch and Jack are always good. Also back in this episode is Bellamy Young as Beth. Last she was seen, she met Jack and that went well. Will they be showing up to go with Hotch to the wedding?

Finally, there’s Sebastian Roché returning as Clyde Easter. He was part of Prentiss’ storyline last season with Ian Doyle, and with Prentiss thinking about her future (and saying goodbye at the end of “Run”), will he be helping her figure out what she’s going to do next?

The case of these two episodes will involve the bank hostage situation, and Tricia Helfer and Evan Jones, will be guest starring as the robbers, while Josh Randall will be playing a hostage. One of the team is going to end up a hostage, and a photo has been released showing Morgan and Prentiss holding JJ back as Hotch stands behind them, presumably outside the bank. Is it safe to assume that the one going in isn’t one of them? Could one of JJ’s loved ones be a hostage in the bank? Is Reid going to be a hostage again? Since the episode is ending with a wedding, it doesn’t seem likely anyone will be injured (they wouldn’t have a happy celebration if that was the case), but with the episode being two hours, there’s time for the series to interject some suspense into it.

What do you think of the Criminal Minds season 7 finale spoilers for episodes 23, “Hit,” and 24, “Run”?
