CW Renews ‘Gossip Girl': Season 6 Will Be Its Last

As expected, Gossip Girl has been renewed for a sixth season, but it’s also going to be its last. This means the show will get to go out just like they want it to, without risking a cancellation and leaving some things up in the air.

CW Renews GG

Gossip Girl title cardAccording to TVLine, the CW drama has been renewed “for a sixth and final season of 10 or 11 episodes.” It’s going to have a short season, and “showrunner Stephanie Savage—who developed the show with Josh Schwartz—has promoted Co-EP Sarah Goodman to exec producer, replacing Smash-bound Josh Safran.” The series hasn’t been what it used to be, so this was news that everyone was expecting—a short, final season to say goodbye.

Gossip Girl season 5 is coming to an end on Monday with “The Return of the Ring,” in which Blair is expected to choose between Dan and Chuck. That means (presumably) that fans will get to see her with that guy in the sixth season and that the love triangle may very well be laid to rest. Will the final season also feature the title character being revealed to everyone? Could that end up being in the series finale?

Were you expecting Gossip Girl to be renewed for the last time for a short season 6?
