When Dancing with the Stars 2012 premiered on March 19, telenovela megastar William Levy set the ballroom ablaze with a sizzling Cha Cha Cha that drew unprecedented whoops and hollers from the audience. Does the Latin hunk have what it takes to surpass the competition and take the top spot on the leaderboard from current co-leaders Katherine Jenkins and Jaleel White during week two? Perhaps.
Levy and two-time DWTS pro champ Cheryl Burke are scheduled to perform the fleet-footed, whimsical Quickstep when the show returns Monday evening. If William’s sexy swivels translate into shapely ballroom form, the pair has a good chance at equaling their debut marks. Whether or not he can master the strict form required of ballroom dancers remains to be seen.
He does, however, enter week two with an advantage over the six couples assigned the difficult and often harshly judged Jive.
Regardless of the eventual outcome, one thing’s for sure: He’s been working hard to perfect the routine. On March 22, William tweeted to fans, “Quick step is getting better.. Thank God!!!!!!!! The only thing is that it leaves u with no energy. Imagine jumping around for 4 hrs ..” It’s not exactly a glowing response to the physically taxing dance, but the pair’s legions of fans will no doubt support them with votes following the show.
Dancing with the Stars 2012 continues March 26 with a second round of performances. The first elimination show of season 14 is scheduled for Tuesday evening. Will William Levy Quickstep his way to the top, or is disaster on the menu for the popular star? Tune in and find out.
