Dancing with the Stars 2013 airs its fifth week results show shortly, and when this program airs and the votes are counted and then those numbers are added to the judges scores from Monday’s performance show, one of the remaining teams will be sent home. Sad, but that’s how this contest works. So, with that reality on this reality show in mind, who will be the couple to be sent packing on April 16?
While Sean Lowe was possibly on the edge with his fairly wooden Viennese waltz last week, The Bachelor 2013 seems to have redeemed himself this week (see review here) and so he will probably stick around for at least one more week and one more dance if luck and a lot of fans are with him.
And what about Andy Dick? This newly sober celebrity has won the hearts and the votes of so many so he will likely still be around when the dust settles during the DWTS results show tonight as well. Besides, as seen in this review, Dick made quite the amazing entrance so his exit is probably not warranted just yet, either.
So that leaves a few other contenders who have not ranked high on Dancing with the Stars so far this season. One such participant is Victor Ortiz who dances with ballroom pro Lindsay Arnold. These two have been in the bottom two before and they definitely don’t want to be in the bottom two again.
Still, the fight is on, especially after Victor seemed to be slacking during rehearsals. He was undergoing some personal problems and was therefore not on his game despite Lindsay’s best efforts until she had a talk with him. Then he rose to the occasion.
Yes, Ortiz ultimately worked it, putting as much of his excess emotion into the Viennese waltz he danced, which was done with Lindsay as well as pros Tristan and Emma, too. Done to the INXS anthem called Never Tear Us Apart (an ironic selection for this side-by-side set and the circumstances surrounding Victor’s problems this week), all four dancers did a lot of posing as mannequins. But in between there was a lot of dancing and a lot of trying to dance as best as possible, at least from Victor’s perspective.
So did the Dancing with the Stars judges like this effort?
Well, Carrie Ann Inaba was happy with the “grace of the dance” but not the lifts that were part of the choreography. Meanwhile, Len Goodman said “there was no intent to lift” and then he deemed this dance from Victor and Lindsay better than what the two had done when they danced during week four.
As for Bruno Tonioli? He said that Ortiz had returned in good shape, and was now “back in the game.”
So did Victor Ortiz punch it out enough to stay in this competition? How about DL Hughley, who tangoed with Cheryl Burke, Sasha Farber and Chelsie Hightower? This artist was also criticized by the DWTS judges as he seems to be every week on Dancing but he did a good job despite all the gripes.
Still these two entertainers may want to get ready to burn their Capezios on Jimmy Kimmel Live after the Dancing with the Stars 2013 results show is over. After all, the appearance on the other show is tradition for the losing dancer and his or her partner each and every week Dancing airs. But will it be DL Hughley or Victor Ortiz who get voted off on April 16? Or will it be someone else who will dance off into the sunset and onto the late night show hosted by Mister Kimmel? Thoughts? Thanks.
