Have Dark Knight Rises spoilers been hinted at by comments made by the film’s screenwriter? Some fans believed it to be true after learning of his recent comments in an Esquire interview. However, director Christopher Nolan recently spoke about these comments from David Goyer which have fans speculating about the Caped Crusader’s possible demise.
The Batman movie spoilers have about 11 days left for fans to get at them, or avoid them, depending on whether they want to be surprised and entertained by a potential epic film this summer. According to the website ComicBookMovie.com, David Goyer, the screenwriter for TDKR, said of the movie’s final scene:
“The final scene of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ is exactly the scene we talked about. It remained completely unchanged. We both knew in our hearts that we were onto something special. I have to tell you, having finally seen everything strung together a little while ago and seeing that scene, I got a complete lump in my throat.”
Some fans took that statement to mean that the film will end on a rather sad note. Will Batman die in the trilogy’s finale?
MTV got feedback from Nolan himself regarding Goyer’s comments, with the Batman director saying:
“I think, really, people are reading too much into David’s quote, actually. If you read the context of it, he’s very diplomatically talking about just fulfilling the promise of what we had initially talked about in terms of having a complete story, and ending the story.”
He added to the above:
“Everybody talking on behalf of the film knows they don’t want to ruin anything for the audience, so they’re all trying to be careful.
I don’t really want to talk about the ending of the film. We wouldn’t want to give that away.”
While The Dark Knight Rises arrives to theaters on July 20th for the United States, it’s already been shown in advance screenings. That means, not only the cast and crew know what happens in this one, but so do those who have seen the film early. So far, there’s been rave reviews, including standing ovations (without spoilers), for this movie which Nolan has said he wanted to bring his Batman story to an end.
Of course where one story ends, Hollywood can always go for the “reboot,” a popular option these days. It’s been done with Spider-Man, and will soon be done with Superman as well. Whether or not anyone ever comes close to matching the work of Christopher Nolan’s superhero franchise will remain to be seen though.
Do you think Batman will die at the end of The Dark Knight Rises, or will something else happen?
