As “Dark Knight Rises” spoilers are something ravenous comic book fans continue to try to scoop up online, the latest could involve a potential spin-off from the final Batman movie by Christopher Nolan. Could Anne Hathaway potentially get her own Catwoman film or series when it’s all said and done?
This particular concept would indicate a Dark Knight spoiler that Catwoman survives in this particular film, unless the people behind the concept make it more of a prequel or origins type movie. However, Hathaway is receiving one of the biggest endorsements she can ahead of the film’s official release, and that’s praise from director Nolan himself.
A recent report has comments Nolan gave during a press junket for TDKR, where he stated:
“Anne is incredibly precise and articulate about the psychology of the character. She’s really built it from the ground up, it’s just a delight to watch her perform, the things she does in those heels is not to be taken lightly.
For me, Gotham and these characters, I’m done. I’ve told our story and I’m moving on.”
However, when asked if a Hathaway should have a Catwoman spin-off, Nolan said, “I certainly think she deserves it, she’s incredible.”
Now it’s rare that a director will bash someone in his film to the press ahead of its opening, because usually they save that for after the fact (see Michael Bay and Megan Fox). However, it appears Nolan was very impressed with Hathaway’s “skills” in the skintight latex catsuit she wears in “Dark Knight Rises.” Still some naysayers out there might point to the fact that they made a Catwoman film once before (starring Halle Berry) and it flopped miserably. Then again, it wasn’t based on a Christopher Nolan character, per se. If the right people were involved in coming up with the script and concept, and had a good-sized budget with Hathaway included, it’s possible it could do quite well.
It will be interesting to see in this grand finale film what direction her character goes at the end. The spoilers already seem to reveal she may start out as a bit of an enemy to Bruce Wayne and Batman. One theory even suggests she helps Bane kidnap him. However, as trailers and teasers are showing, Catwoman will end up as an ally to the Caped Crusader in his fight to save Gotham. How big a part will she play in whatever occurs in the end? That’s what will be great to see as the story unfolds on the big screen!
Do you think they should do a Catwoman spin-off film from “The Dark Knight Rises” or is it too soon to say? Are you a fan of Anne Hathaway playing this particular role?
