Batman fans have good news today! “The Dark Knight Rises” is the title of the new Batman 3. It has now been announced officially. This new Batman film is currently set for a 2012 release with Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale returning for the last film in the trilogy. Yes, this turn for Batman with Bale in the lead is now coming to an end. How long do you think it will be before DC Comics tries to reboot this film series once again? Five years? Ten? The comics will always be hot, and they will always bring people to the movies, but this set will always be remembered on its own for its success.

The series has done well this time around with “The Dark Knight” breaking records with its release in 2008. However, some will continue to speculate part of the popularity of the film was due to the death of Heath Ledger after filming ended and the blame for his death partially being put on the toll the character of The Joker took on him during filming.

Hero Complex was the first to promote news of the title today, and it has made the rounds of most of the gossip and entertainment sites since it broke. However, Nolan did reveal a little something else with the announcement of the news today – no Riddler for Batman 3. That had been the rumored villain for some time. However, Nolan is looking for another villain to come in. Catwoman has been another possibly mentioned for some time now. There are so many worthy villains that could come in and help Batman finish off the series.

One bit of good news that fans might find interesting is the fact that Nolan will not go through the 3-D route for “The Dark Knight Rises.” That seems the popular craze right now, but the man is avoiding the mayhem that is 3-D and keeping the film in a more natural state. This is good to see. Too many films these days are jumping on the 3-D bandwagon, and it just isn’t needed.

“The Dark Knight Rises” is looking at a July 2012 release with filming to start in August. Will you be heading to theaters to see this one? Go here for the latest in entertainment news and gossip.
