Demi Lovato has never been one to shy away from trying new styles or embracing statement-making trends. After all, she just recently colored her own hair a deep shade of red (from box dye, no less!) and she has dressed ’70s hippie-chic, ’80s grunge and full-on glamazon. Now she’s going daring and just a bit dangerous with a new beauty look that speaks, rather screams, volumes: a stare-inducing manicure.
On Wednesday night, Lovato hit Los Angeles’ LAX Airport for a flight to Puerto Rico, as she’s performing a concert there in Hato Rey on Friday. But, before she left, she had some important business to wrap up — namely holiday gift shopping and a nail appointment. As Just Jared Jr. reports, Lovato Tweeted yesterday, “Getting ready to go shopping with @TheHannaBeth. Yay,” before heading off for that mani. Of course, of her nails, she also posted, “Will tweet a picture when we’re done!!! Yayyy.”
And Demi Lovato did just that, sharing the pic and thanking the nail artist for her “bomb nails.” Hollywood Life has the photo of the “Skyscraper” singer’s manicure, which really does soar to new heights. Not only do her nails resemble that sharp talon or dagger shape that Lady Gaga is known to frequently wear, they are also intensely decorated — just like miniature canvases with their own works of art! The pointy tips are a strange conglomeration of a zipper painted on the thumb, plus black lacquer on two nails, a colorful neon pink and green leopard print on the middle finger and an ice cream cone with sprinkles (of all things!) on the pinky finger.
It seems to be a strange mix of designs, at first. But they really do kind of represent Lovato well, with the ice cream characterizing the 19-year-old entertainer’s fun and youthful personality, the zipper her sultry, sexy side and the neon leopard print her willingness to keep everyone guessing about her eclectic, sometimes wild style. The black lacquer could stand for the balance that everyone needs (especially a celebrity like Lovato!). So, did Demi Lovato nail her latest manicure or is it too silly to be stylish?
