Derek Jeter’s Mansion To Blame for Yankees Subpar Performance?

Derek Jeter, New York Yankee shortstop, has been “indirectly” targeted as the reason why the Yankees have not won a championship in recent years. Who said this? The Boss’s son Hank Steinbrenner.

In a well-intended dig at the Yankees team captain, Steinbrenner was stating some obvious facts. The focus of baseball has become more about the money.

Hank Steinbrenner stated, “Some of the players are too busy building mansions and other things and not concentrating on winning.”

With Derek Jeter in the midst of building a monstrosity of an estate in Tampa, Florida, no names needed to be mentioned. The 30,875-square-foot estate consists of seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and two to three car garages for Jeter and his girlfriend Minka Kelly to use. Along with the inground swimming pool, the mansion sits on the water overlooking a majestic view of the ocean.

While Derek Jeter has been nothing but dedicated to the New York Yankees, why single him out? Why not. Hank Steinbrenner made it clear what he was trying to say and not only did the team hear it, but the entire country, as well.
