If you keep up with my posts you know that I am an avid lover and watcher of Dexter. The show is incredible, largely due to its incredible lead actor Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter Morgan. On Wednesday Hall revealed that he has been battling cancer, he says he is almost finished with his treatments and the disease is in remission.
Michael C. Hall was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma–he says he is extremely lucky to have been diagnosed with a “treatable and curable condition.” His wife, and Dexter co-star Jennifer Carpenter, who plays Debra Morgan on the show, says that they plan to go to the Golden Globes and SAG, both of which Michael c. Hall was nominated for Best Dramatic Actor, and the show for best TV Drama.
I have a relative who is now in remission of a non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and the beauty of technology and medical care these days (Thank You Sloan Kettering!!) is that more and more people who are diagnosed with cancer–if they take action quickly–they can extend and better the quality of their lives for years and years and years. Cancer used to be an end-all word, now it is more of a large hurdle that must be leapt over–sometimes unpleasantly, but nevertheless a much better alternative than 20 years ago.
I am glad to hear that Michael C. Hall is getting the treatments he needs so he and his wife, Jennifer Carpenter, can live a long happy life–and film a few more seasons of Dexter :).
