Should NKOTB heartthrob Donnie Wahlberg strut his stuff on the Fall season of Dancing with the Stars 2011? Season 12 finalist Kirstie Alley, who’s set to shimmy her way through Monday’s finale on the arm of partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, seems to think so.
Fan-favorite Alley, 60, who earned her way into the finals alongside fellow hoofers Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward following a string of surprisingly good routines, tweeted the idea to Wahlberg on Saturday: “u gotta rise and grind next season on DWTS… U would kill it!!!I’ll be watching…..;).”
The singer, who performed as part of NKOTBSB–the New Kids on the Block/Backstreet Boys megagroup–during the April 26 DWTS results show, didn’t fully dismiss the idea when he replied, “I don’t know about that but I’d sure love to dance with you! Kick ass this week and bring that disco ball home!”
It seems like the Cheers actress isn’t the only one who thinks it would be a good move: as of press time, 75 tweeters had re-posted Alley’s suggestion, so don’t be surprised if a “put Donnie Wahlberg on Dancing with the Stars 2011″ petition pops up in cyberspace very soon. He would indeed be an interesting contestant; after all, he has performance experience, and fellow boy-turned-manbander Lance Bass did well when he competed with Lacey Schwimmer back in the Fall of 2008.
So might Donnie Wahlberg don his dancing shoes and slide around the ballroom with Anna Trebunskaya or Cheryl Burke? We’ll have to wait and see. Until then, watch the last two nights of Dancing with the Stars 2011’s Spring season and see who takes the Mirrorball Trophy home.
