Doughnut Burgers: New Foods at State Fairs come with Health Risk

Doughnut burgers? State fairs are bringing in new foods for the fairs and they’ve unleashed the deadly doughnut burger! It doesn’t take a genius to know that these new foods may be yummy for the tummy but bad on the body!

Reports surfaced that one deep fried Krispy Kreme doughnut burger can set you back 1,000 calories! What is a doughnut burger? It’s two halves of a Krispy Kreme doughnut with cheese and meat patty. And, it usually costs between $6 – $7. Sounds like a greasy, sickly sweet concoction but is it worth the calories?

What about the other food items like deep fried veggies and bacon? These new foods may sound like a taste bud adventure but they will certainly help pack on the pounds.

In Wisconsin, the state fairs have deep fried everything. They offer deep fried chocolate covered bacon, doughnut burgers, veggies…basically, you name it, they probably have it.

Those offerings don’t seem to help the state’s obesity rate which is about 26% in adults. Maybe what fairs should be doing is bringing back healthier foods like fresh fruits and veggies, dressing them up and promoting them at fairs.

It’s obvious deep fried foods are delicious but how does that help the obesity problem the U.S.  is currently facing? It makes no sense that these foods are offered when healthier alternatives can be substituted.

Remember, a day at the fair indulging in forbidden foods like the deep fried doughnut burger can set you back several days at the gym so it’s best to avoid these foods or engage in portion control when eating them.
