‘Octomom’ Nadya Suleman has been painted in so many ways it is difficult to separate the real story from the cartoon character. Her behavior is bizarre, her story completely strange, and most people think that Suleman is completely nuts.

DrDrew1SecondFilmDr. Drew Pinsky, however, says not so fast. Perhaps looking beyond all the kids, and the quirks, Suleman is just a unique, precious person as opposed to just a nut job.

In a recent blog posted on CNN, the reality show host and board-certified internist tries to paint a different picture of ‘Octomom.’ Dr. Drew understands that unfortunately perception is often not reality.

He admits that he was sucked into the “headlines and hype.” Pinsky did get to do something that most do not have the opportunity to do, which is actually spend time with Nadya Suleman.

Nadya Suleman – a.k.a. the “Octomom” – is a complex person, not the caricature we’ve made her into.

Dr. Drew has a point, though the tabloid articles will continue. Her bizarre story sells papers. As people try to put Nadya Suleman “into a box,” Pinsky wants them to remember that Suleman is a person, too. Complex, but a person nonetheless.
