The “DWTS” finale is causing death threats to be sent the way of Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas. Yes, both of them have been the targets of recent death threats. This is where it has to just stop. Fans aren’t happy with Bristol Palin being in the final three of the competition on “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC, but there needs to be a line drawn somewhere.

Wasn’t the fact someone caused an Anthrax scare back on Friday bad enough? That is right. Someone sent powder in a fan letter addressed to Bristol Palin. That led to clearing of the “DWTS” offices while the FBI investigated the powder to find out what it was. It was discovered to only be talcum powder. That was a breath of relief, but now things are even more tense?

“DWTS” and death threats shouldn’t even be in the same breath really, but according to the Washington Post, they are. This is not life and death. These are celebrities, or in the case of Bristol Palin, pseudo celebrities trying to win a stupid little trophy for dancing. This isn’t governments at work. This isn’t a court case where Bristol Palin might go free for killing someone. This is just a dance reality competition show. She is dancing, and nothing more.

Sure, Brandy might have been the better dancer. The competition should be between Jennifer Grey and Brandy this week, but that is not the way it worked out. The people that voted wanted Bristol Palin in the finale, and that is where she is right now. She is just minutes away from taking to the dance floor, and she has to worry that someone wants to kill her if she somehow wins the competition.

That isn’t even right. Enough is enough. This is not all that serious. Security has been increased for tonight’s show, and Jennifer Grey is favored to win. Controversy is a part of reality competition shows, but it is safe to say this has been the most controversial “Dancing with the Stars” season ever.

ABC really bit of more than they can chew when they put Bristol Palin in the competition. There will be a full recap of tonight’s performances after the show airs. It should be an exciting night. Let’s hope it is only because of the dancing and nothing else. Go here for the white powder scare and all the latest “DWTS” news.
