Fans of Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band were definitely saddened by the recent news that The Boss’s long-time saxophonist and friend, “The Big Man” Clarence Clemons, suffered a stroke last Sunday.

The Big Man’s stroke isn’t the first health scare or tragedy that had struck the band in recent years. The E-Street Band also lost band member Danny Federici to melanoma last year.

But Bruce Springsteen is a veteran rocker and he and his band mates will undoubtedly use the recent setbacks that they have experienced as inspiration to further their creative process. After all, Bruce Springsteen has been making music for over three decades and shows no signs of slowing down.

Wednesday, The Boss told The Chicago Sun Times that his friend and band mate was “going to need a lot of help to get back to his former self.” Springsteen also thanked the band’s fans for their prayers and well wishes in the article.

Although Clemons is now 69 and has had problems with his back and knees, The Big Man was still on tour with Bruce last December. And according to Paste Magazine, Clemons recently performed with Lady Gaga on the finale of Fox’s American Idol. Lady Gaga was undoubtedly delighted since she revealed to fans on the recent MTV special Inside the Outside that she is a Springsteen fan.

Fans can only hope that Clarence will have a full and speedy recovery. Although the stroke was severe enough to require two brain surgeries, The Big Man is reportedly now “responsive and in stable condition.”

You can stay updated on Clarence’s condition by visiting, Bruce Springsteen’s official website or via Facebook and Twitter.
