Emma Watson Leaves Brown for ‘Harry Potter’

Emma Watson, of Hermione fame in the Harry Potter movie series, is talking a leave of absence from Brown University to focus on finishing her film and promotion duties. She announces, “As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything,” reports E!Online. “But recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible.”

ItÂ’s perfect. Hermione couldnÂ’t have put it better herself. She loved studying (and outside reading on serious magic) pretty much better than anything, too, but she had to give up her last year at Hogwarts to go traipsing through the woods on a horcrux quest. Sometimes youÂ’ve gotta do what youÂ’ve gotta do.

Emma Watson says, “I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to coFile:Emma Watson GoF Premiere Crop.jpgmpletely finish my work on Harry Potter and to focus on my other professional and acting projects.” First part, check. There must be maddening finish-ups and promotional gigs around the world, which don’t mesh well with papers due on Friday.

But the second part? Other projects? Sounds ominous.  Leaving in mid-semester is ominous, too.

“I will still be working towards my degree,” the actress says. “It will just take a semester or two longer than I thought.” Unfortunately, that’s what they all say. GossipCop adds that several unnamed movie projects are underway—or under review. There’s a fashion deal, too. Emma Watson is a busy girl. Degrees are seldom necessary in the entertainment world, but they are so nice to fall back on.
