Emma Watson to Show Skin in New Movie Role

Emma Watson is trying to leave the world of Harry Potter behind by emulating Susan Sarandon in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Like Daniel Radcliffe, who bared it all in the play Equus, Emma seems to believe that flashing a little flesh is the best way to put being a child star far behind her, and what better actress to pay homage to than Susan Sarandon? After all, the actress is notorious for doing nude scenes in movies like Pretty Baby and The Hunger.

Emma Watson has described the outfit she’ll be wearing as a corset, and she stated that she actually does a Rocky Horror dance in the movie. However, she was far from comfortable trying to groove onstage like Daniel Radcliffe does on Broadway — Emma said she felt “ridiculous” filming the scene in front of extras onset.

As much of a change from the Harry Potter movies as it might be, The Perks of Being a Wallflower could be just the film Emma Watson needs to prove that she has staying power in Hollywood. She’ll be playing a hard-partying teen named Sam who befriends a troubled introvert named Charlie, a role that will be played by Logan Lerman of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief fame. Like Emma Watson, Logan will also be hoping to move beyond a movie franchise aimed at kids, and since the film will be full of references to drug use, homosexuality, sexual abuse, and other serious issues many teens face in the real world, it’s safe to say that The Perks of Being a Wallflower is as far away from the fantasy world of Harry Potter as they can possibly get.

So will dancing around in lingerie prove that Emma Watson will see success beyond the movies she’s been working on for so many years of her young life? It’s hard to say since Emma has only played good girl Hermione, but hopefully, she and the rest of her young castmates can use their magic powers to break the child star curse that so many other young actors and actresses seem to have cast on them.
