Emma Watson appeared on the Today Show on Monday, and told Ann Curry, Al Roker and the rest of the Today Show gang that she will truly miss playing the role of Hermione Granger.

According to OK Magazine, the release of the last Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, signifies the end of her playing a role she’d really come to love. Her fans won’t be the only ones to miss Hermione. Watson will miss her, too.

“It’s been 12 years. We started when I was nine and the boys were 12. It’s really been a significant part of our life not just in terms of the amount time, but in the period of a human being’s life. So much change, so much happening. So yeah, it was incredibly emotional.” Emma Watson says of wrapping up filming the final movie.

Watson has actually spent more than half of her entire life playing the character of Hermione Granger. That could be a very difficult thing for her to simply let go.

“I know, it’s funny. When I think about what I’ll miss I’ll actually just miss being her and living her life,” she says. “Getting to walk around in her shoes and having her adventures.”

Emma Watson will undoubtedly continue to find success in the acting world, even in light of the end of playing her beloved Hermione. She’s grown up on the big screen and become a stellar actress in doing so. Surely she will find new roles to fulfill her dreams, and continue perfecting her craft along the way.

Emma Watson will soon star in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, alongside actor Logan Lerman. This will be her first post-Harry Potter role.
