F Factor Diet and the Health Benefits of High Fiber Foods

Once it was the Atkins diet, then it was South Beach–today, the diet everyone is talking about is “The F Factor Diet.”  A diet that promises weight loss without starvation seems impossible but that this diet promises–and anyone trying to drop pounds knows how tough that is to find.

This diet was designed by nutritionist Tanya Zuckerbrot, M.S. R.D. based in New York City and Miami–and she also happens to be the official dietician of the Miss Universe Organization, so she must be doing something right.  Ms. Zuckerbrot wrote a book entitled The F Factor Diet that came out in 2007, and was on TV show The View today discussing its success. 

The F factor in the diet is fiber–the idea behind the diet being that if you eat enough of it, you will feel full quickly and therefore be less likely to overeat.  Zuckerbrot’s book includes “more than 75 delicious recipes from appetizers to desserts and a complete set of guidelines for those who don’t want to cook–journal pages and helpful hints to keep dieters on track.”

* Fiber One Cereal
* Fiber Crackers
* Fruit (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, pear, apple)
* Vegetables (salad greens, broccoli, asparagus, sweet potato, cabbage)
* Whole Grains (brown rice, whole wheat bread)
* Beans and Legumes (garbanzos, black beans, lentils, pinto beans)
* Nuts (peanut butter, almond, pistachio, walnut)
