Falling Skies – Motives of Aliens in 2011 TNT SciFi Drama?

TNT has a new science fiction drama series planned for 2011.  Falling Skies has Steven Spielberg as its producer and Noah Wyle and Moon Bloodgood as its stars.  The series will be about aliens, which seems to be another major theme for Hollywood lately, along with vampires.

What’s the Show About & What Are the Aliens’ Motives?

Mark Verheiden, writer for the series, has said that even though they know why the aliens invaded, it won’t be revealed right away.  “These aliens have a plan, but it’s a slowly unfolding plan…But I think we can be sure that there’s meaning behind what they’re doing, and what they’re doing is very strange.”  So what exactly is the show about?  It’s about a group of people who are still alive after the apocalypse hit when aliens invaded.  They “go up against overwhelming odds and find great heroism inside themselves and still hold on to their families.  A key note of the show is not losing what made you human,” Verheiden explained.  It sounds like it could make for a good series, if done right, and it will be nice to see Noah Wyle return to television after ER.

What do you think of this news?  Will you check out Falling Skies next year on TNT?
