Many were surprised when MTV announced late last week that the original Teen Mom cast had been replaced with a brand new cast for a third installment of the franchise. The original members–Amber, Catelynn, Farrah and Maci–will no longer be on the small screen after the fourth season of the show airs this upcoming summer. Instead, a new installment of the show will feature four new teenage mothers that viewers will be introduced to in the upcoming season of 16 & Pregnant which will premiere at the end of March.

While these girls are now becoming women and finishing up college for the most part, MTV finds that it is the right time to let go of the original Teen Mom stars.

Wetpaint Entertainment did a poll to see if fans agree with MTV’s decision to terminate the show. Surprisingly, fans think it is a good time for the producers to pull the plug on the show. 52 percent of viewers think it is a good time to cancel the show. But 28 percent aren’t agreeing with the decision, as these fans want to watch the show forever. About 20 percent think that the girls should have been followed for at least a few seasons more. The latter option could be an option for producers to show that despite having a child as a teenager, you can get through college and have a successful career.
