‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Gets Another Potential Christian in Colin Egglesfield

Ian Somerhalder has more Fifty Shades of Grey competition!

The Vampire Diaries star has been heavily promoting himself as the perfect man to play Christian Grey, and True Blood hottie Alexander Skarsgard has also expressed an interest in the part. But unfortunately for the hunky stars, winning the role just got tougher—they now have one more actor to contend with, and he hasn’t starred in a TV series featuring vampires.

Colin Egglesfield did star in the vampire movie Vampires: The Turning, but he’s probably best-known for starring on All My Children, The Client List, Melrose Place, and in the Kate Hudson rom-com Something Borrowed.

So Colin really hasn’t played any characters like Fifty Shades of Grey sex maniac Christian Grey, a billionaire whose BDSM lifestyle intrigues and disturbs the pretty college student who he pursues in hopes of making her his submissive. However, he has the same thing going for him that Ian Somerhalder does—he’s extremely sexy. In fact, Colin Egglesfield resembles Ian quite a bit with his piercing eyes.

When The Client List star was asked by Access Hollywood if he would play Christian Grey, at first he acted a little offended by asking, “Are you saying I have a devious sexual side that I need some therapy to help treat?”

However, he went on to say that he thinks he could play Christian even though he hasn’t read Fifty Shades of Grey yet. His costar Jennifer Love Hewitt is already a big fan of the book, so perhaps she’ll let him borrow her copy.

But who would be Colin Egglesfield’s Anastasia Steele? A few young stars have expressed an interest in the role, such as Pretty Little Liars actresses Lucy Hale and Ashley Benson. So perhaps the movie will help turn a TV actor and actress into bona fide movie stars.

So what do you think—would Colin make a good Christian, or is Ian Somerhalder the only man for the role?
