Filming began this week in Ann Arbor, Michigan for the Emily Blunt and Jason Segel romantic comedy Five Year Engagement.

The film chronicles the ups and downs of a couples’ relationship and pairs Segel with his Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller. Filming began today at Ann Arbor’s Cavern Club. The first scene in the bag features the leads, played by Segel and Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada, The Adjustment Bureau) meeting at a fancy dress party–Segel in a pink bunny costume and Blunt dressed as Princess Diana.

Cavern Club owner Nick Easton was able to catch a few minutes of the action. “This is where (Emily Blunt and Jason Segel) first meet in the movie. It’s supposed to be a superhero costume party. That’s what they told me it was. But I don’t know where you get a giant pink bunny from that.”

Superhero/bunny connection notwithstanding, Five Year Engagement sounds like a hit in the making, especially considering the stellar cast. Aside from Segel and the tremendous talent of Emily Blunt, the film stars Alison Brie, Rhys Ifans, Jackie Weaver, and The Office funnywoman Mindy Kaling.
