Fire Bell

The bell rings, a resounding clang of doom

Fire wraiths dance along in the dusky gloom

Smoke rises above the building’s new glow

Brisque attention all gawking faces show

Smiles die away in realization

Faces turn dark in fresh consternation

Women cry as family dreams are lost

Tangible memories by the flames tossed

Heroes arrive to stop the spreading fear

To the end they fight, holding success dear

Hoses spray and axes break through hard wall

Luckily no lives are threatened at all

On the curbside a frightened young boy cries

Tears of repentance falling from his eyes

In his shaking hands a matchbox stands out

Proclaiming guilt to all who are about.
