First and Last – Wednesday Writing Essentials

It started with one—look after the planet. Two trees bore fruits too precious to eat; ten commandments; 613 instructions…

The old cedar stands tall, its rings filled with memories of God. But the circus of tractors isn’t gathered to hear its call. Lofty branches fall and Eden is gone.

Prompts for Wednesday Writing Essentials November 17, 2010:

  • Use the following words: loft, cedar, circus, planet
  • Include reference to the number ten
  • Give us a character or situation that riles us up in anger or shock
  • Keep your story close to the truth so that your readers will say, “That post has a high degree of verisimilitude.”

I’m not sure how well I followed these, but at least they inspired me.
