Flight of the Conchords Is No More

The first time you watch the HBO series Flight of the Conchords, you find yourself scratching your head and saying. . . hmmm. . what was that? But then you find yourself coming back for more and more.

The quirky comedy series revolvs around the New Zealand musical duo Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie and their slow (very slow) rise to stardom. It’s sort of like Spinal Tap in small doses, a fictionalized documentary with wickedly brilliant musical numbers and off-beat humor.

But now, I’ve got my business socks on and you know what that means, it’s time for business – The Flight of the Conchords has come to an end.

The news that the show would not continue on for a third season came from the band themselves when they posted this on their Web site :

“We’ve noticed the less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it, so in an effort to reverse this trend we are today announcing that we won’t be returning for a 3rd season….While the characters Bret and Jemaine will no longer be around, the real Bret and Jemaine will continue to exist.”

Of course, this could just be a case of reverse, reverse psychology designed to get us all to mount a huge Save Our Show campaign in hopes of seeing the further adventures of The Conchords.

Then again, maybe not.  To quote Jermaine, “I’m not cryin’. It’s just been raining… on my face.”
