Forget the ’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie: Who Should Play Gideon Cross?

The 50 Shades of Grey movie producers better watch out—fans have found another Christian Grey to obsess about.

According to the International Business Times, the new sex god steaming up e-readers everywhere is named Gideon Cross, the love interest of Sylvia Day’s heroine Eva Tramell in the Crossfire series.

Gideon has a lot in common with E. L. James’ character. He’s a billionaire with a traumatic past that has left him with a need for control. He’s also handsome and possessive; he stalks Eva; and he treats relationships like a business transaction. However, he doesn’t have a sex dungeon, and Sylvia Day’s first Crossfire series book Bared to You doesn’t feature much BDSM (Christian Grey would probably consider the sex “vanilla”).

Besides the lack of Ben Wa balls, another difference between 50 Shades of Grey and Bared to You is a heroine was abused when she was younger. So Eva has bigger issues than a split personality that she refers to as her “inner goddess.”

And unlike 50 Shades, Sylvia Day’s book isn’t being made into a movie right now. However, that isn’t stopping fans from picking their perfect Gideon Cross.

Right now Henry Cavill seems to be the most popular pick, but there are quite a few other Christian Grey favorites being suggested—Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer are also winning votes.

There are quite a few 50 Shades fans that are also into Sylvia Day’s series, so they would probably be thrilled to see Bared to You turned into a movie, too—it would almost be a way for fans to get to see two Christians on the silver screen. However, fan might start fighting about who should play Gideon and who should play Christian.

Maybe Ian Somerhalder could get cast as Christian and Henry Cavill could play Gideon. To many women, this would be a very fulfilling fantasy, but what about Matt Bomer?

Since Day’s book is selling like hotcakes even though it’s little more than a 50 Shades knockoff, maybe another author should rip off E. L. James’ Twilight-inspired erotic novel. So start writing, ladies—maybe Matt, Henry, or Ian will bring your brooding billionaire book character to life.
