It’s been rumored for some time now that actress Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade, 2010 NBA All-Star game MVP and Miami Heat baller, are a couple.  The duo have been photographed together at various outings including a walk near Miami Beach (see pic).  Wade apparently started dating Miss Union while he was part of a tough divorce battle with his estranged wife, Siohvaughn Funches.  That ordeal was recently profiled on an episode of E!’s True Hollywood Story called “Basketball Wives”, but Gabrielle Union was not featured in the report.

The Dwyane Wade and Siohvaughn Funches ordeal involves the fact that the couple has two kids, Zion and Zaire.  During the divorce, Funches moved back to Chicago, while Wade is in Miami.  At times, a family friend noted she would talk to one of the young children on the phone and they’d be crying out because of how they missed their father.  During the divorce proceedings, Siohvaughn even accused Wade of being a “dead beat dad”.  Making things worse, she accused Wade of transmitting an STD to her, which caused Wade to seek legal action, suing Funches and two lawyers.

The Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade couple certainly isn’t the first time a star basketball player and celeb have dated.  Previously, Chris Webber was in a relationship with Tyra Banks which made headlines.  Jason Kidd is currently dating a Playboy playmate, while Kobe Bryant married a video star in Vanessa.  It seems that the ballers and female celebs know all about the spotlight and how to best handle it.  According to E!’s Basketball Wives show, the wives who came up to the NBA with the players, have trouble adjusting at times to just how much of a toll an NBA player’s life can take on them, the marriage and family.
